Halloween in quarantine? Here are virtual events for your spooky season celebration

We’ll be honest: Missing out on our traditional Halloween festivities this year is making us feel a bit hollow inside. No trick or treats, no costume parties, no haunted house visits and no spooky tours in person surely limits the activities that we can do for this holiday—of course, besides the fact that we’re mostly restricted to the four corners of our home, too. Thankfully, here are some events heading online to let you still feel the Halloween spirit while staying safe indoors this year.

WanderManila’s One Night in Intramuros Tour

If the walls of Intramuros could speak, imagine the stories it could tell. Tales of intrigue, of passion and jealousy,…

Posted by WanderManila on Wednesday, October 14, 2020

Don’t be mistaken; this isn’t a ghost hunting or jumpscare-filled tour. No, One Night in Intramuros Tour simply lets you in on alleged hauntings that happen within the city’s eerie walls. Following stories about the areas of Intramuros that are said to have ghosts, WanderManila will give a deeper insight into the scary tales by exploring its historical and cultural context.

“Intramuros has its fair share of dark stories, some of which have allegedly resulted in ghost sightings and other manifestations within the Walled City. Tales of ambition and greed, of broken promises and crimes of passion, of widespread death and destruction, we have it all. The stories we will be telling  are based on historical accounts and have been vetted by the Intramuros Administration itself,” writes WanderManila in a Facebook post.

Unfortunately, the tour isn’t actually livestreamed from Intramuros itself. Instead, a presenter will be narrating at home with multimedia aid like videos, pictures and music to set the atmosphere in the event which takes place on Oct. 30. The One Night in Intramuros Tour will start at 9 p.m. at WanderManila’s Facebook page, and while the event is completely free, you can also leave the team a tip via Gcash or Paypal.

“Goosebumps,” “Fear Street” and “The Nightmare Room”—these are just some of the series that famed American horror novelist R.L Stine has penned. This Halloween, he is teaming up with Scholastic and the Novel Neighbor to throw a fun party which includes an exclusive reading of a never-before-heard scary story that the “Stephen King of children’s literature” personally wrote. There will also be a trivia game for fans of “Goosebumps” along with a discussion of spine-tingling facts about the series. The event will be streamed on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. CST (Nov. 1 at 7 a.m. here) via Novel Neighbor’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
