Try these Nolisoli-approved cocktails to beat the summer heat

Sadly, the cool amihan breeze has said its last goodbyes and we’re now approaching the summer months. Aside from occupying our time by trying out quarantine hobbies, mine-ing tableware on Instagram or making a mess in the kitchen, we’ve also been trying our hand at creating our own cocktails.

Here are a few of the drinks we’ve made over lockdown—where time has unfortunately turned into a flat circle. Whether morning, afternoon or evening (hey, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere), these drinks will help you beat the impending summer heat.

White sangria

Nothing says “Hello summer!” quite like a white wine sangria. Our version simplifies the classic cocktail and adds sweet and refreshing fruits like apples, strawberries and lemons to the mix. It also makes the perfect welcome drink, if you ask us.

Spiked kori kohi

Good coffee is just brilliant on its own, but if you feel like your cuppa joe needs an extra buzz, our spiked kori kohi is just what you need. The magic of this boozy ice coffee is in the frozen coffee cubes that slowly release the coffee liqueur into your milk. It tastes especially delicious when you’re out on a hot day.

Spicy sampalok margarita

While sampalok may be most associated with sinigang, our spicy sampalok margarita shows you how versatile this fruit can be. This sweet-spicy-sour drink is made with calamansi, sampalok paste and a generous splash of tequila. The cocktail is then topped off with a salt and chili powder rim to give it an extra kick.

Pineapple coconut rum

While we do like piña coladas, bringing out our bulky blenders isn’t ideal for a quick afternoon pick-me-up. This pineapple coconut rum takes all the classic elements of the blended cocktail and turns it into an easy to replicate (and easy to finish) drink. We’ll definitely be making these again once we’re poolside.

Soju 4 ways

During the dark, early days of quarantine, soju was the drink of choice for a lot of us who were holed up at home. If you still have a bottle (or six) leftover from your pre-liquor ban hauls, here are four cocktails that can help you make a dent in your collection. They’re quick, easy to make and most importantly, absolutely delicious.
