Comelec has made its decision: Voter’s registration will not be extended, and will therefore end on September 30 as scheduled.
This is despite calls from the Senate to extend the registration period up to October 31, considering that several areas have been put on lockdown.
To make up for this, Comelec announced that voter registration hours will be extended on weekdays, and will also be open on Saturdays and holidays. “The en Banc also unanimously approved the extension of voter registration hours, as well as the opening of voter registration on Saturdays and holidays, for the remainder of the voter registration period,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a Viber message.
