Bibingka croissants, puto bumbong donuts, and other Christmas gifts for people with a sweet tooth

When it comes to giving gifts, one can never go wrong with food. It’s practical because everyone needs to eat and easy to appreciate, because who wouldn’t like receiving delicious treats anyway? Bonus points if you choose your food gift based on what they like to eat. For example: cakes, pastries, and desserts for people with a sweet tooth.

If you need ideas on where to order seasonal, sugary treats for your loved ones this Christmas, check out this list of festive food that we curated with the holiday mood in mind.

Creative kakanin-flavored treats

One of our favorite things about Christmas is buying freshly steamed puto bumbong and bibingka on the streets after Simbang Gabi. To take this food experience home and put a modern twist on it, try BUNappetite Bakeshop and Cafe’s puto bumbong and bibingka donuts. These kakanin donuts cost only P55 each.

Check out Masa Madre Bakehouse’s bibingka croissant, a delightful kakanin-pastry crossover filled with smoked and burnt coconut and topped with salted egg buttercream and scorched cheddar cheese. This Christmas treat is available for only P660 (box of four) and P950 (box of six).

Many restaurants and food businesses have included bibingka cheesecake on their menus lately, including local bakery Sidney. Aside from this popular new take on the classic Filipino kakanin, you can also check out their other festive food treats like Quezo de Bola Tres Leches cake and Quezo de Bola Pastillas.

Indulge in layers of bibingka chiffon cake, leche flan, ube chiffon cake, latik, muscovado, and pure macapuno with ube Swiss meringue and queso de bola with this jam-packed Ultimate Pamaskong Cake from Dulce Bakery By: Mela.

Picture-perfect festive food

A crowd favorite, Theo & Brom’s signature Swiss Meringue Buttercream Tableya Cake gets a holiday transformation with its minimalistic boughs of holly design. This festive cake is available now for only P1,799.

Here’s a holiday special that you shouldn’t miss from local dessert shop Sweet Myni: Christmas globes in the flavors of berry merry custard, tiramisu and strawberries, and choco caramel truffle! Available for P450 each, these 5” desserts are on the shop’s menu from November to December only.

Your vegan loved ones deserve sweet treats this Christmas, too! On their new December menu, Aigoo Cafe introduces a vegan Christmas doughnut line with eight mouthwatering flavors: bavarian, matcha-glazed, strawberry-filled, choco cinnamon, plain-glazed, white choco raspberry, choco butternut, and very blueberry. These treats come in a half-dozen box with pre-selected flavors for only P360.

Trust us, both Santa and your cookie-loving friends will approve of these reinvented mini tart versions of crowd-favorite cookies from Scout’s Honor. Available for only P105 per piece, this new addition to their menu comes in three flavors—chocolate mint cookie tart, turtle pie cookie tart, and burnt Basque cookie tart.
