A little over a year in office and it seems that the country is still quite pleased with the overall performance of President Rodrigo Duterte, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed on July 7 (Friday).

According to the survey, 78 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the Duterte leadership, with only 12 percent dissatisfied and 10 percent undecided.

SWS said that the net satisfaction rating of “Very Good” or +66—three percentage points higher than his +63 rating in March—was the President’s best record yet. He received a net rating of +64 in September last year.

Conducted from June 23 to 26, SWS’ Second Quarter 2017 survey was answered by 1,200 adults (18 years old and above) who participated in face-to-face interviews.

Duterte reached the record-high net satisfaction rating amid a martial law declaration in Mindanao and an ongoing drug war nationwide.

President Duterte declared martial law on May 23 following heavy fighting between government troops and Muslim extremists in Marawi.

The nationwide “war on drugs” was one of the first things the President implemented since being elected into office last year.
