Flowers are a luxury that most of us can forego on a day-today basis. For the most part, our Pinterest boards are enough to satisfy any flora-related dreams. There are, however, special occasions where the act of giving or receiving flowers is essential: a sibling’s graduation, professing your undying love for a significant other, or holidays like Mother’s Day.
The heat may be conducive to growing a variety of flora in a tropical country like the Philippines, but it also makes it incredibly difficult to preserve the freshness of harvested flowers. When it comes to creating beautiful bouquets and floral arrangements, local florists certainly face many challenges, but I suppose it makes the final product all the more valuable.
There is no dearth of elegant floral arrangements in Metro Manila. It’s just a matter of finding a bouquet that (1) appeals to you or your recipient’s tastes, and (2) is within your price range—because some of these bouquets might cost as much as a trip to Japan.
Bella Filipina – P850
A bouquet of flowers isn’t something that needs to be splurged on; we know that our loved ones will appreciate whatever we give them. Something as simple as Bella Filipina’s bouquet, which consists of three carnations and baby’s breath, is affordable, but just as sweet of a gesture.
Fiora Manila – P3,400
They say roses are a symbol of love, but Forever Fiora’s Corazon take it to a literal level. The single heart-shaped Ecuadorian rose is packaged in an elegant grey box. You have the option of choosing from red, pastel pink, or royal blue roses. They also have it in gold, though it costs P200 more.
Blooms by Agi – P3,500
Are pink and white rose arrangements getting a little trite? You might want to consider a bouquet with a different color scheme and floral selection. The Lea signature flower arrangement from Blooms by Agi is a refreshing, summery take on the bouquet.
Flora Euna – P4,000
A dozen red roses wrapped in brown packaging; Flora Euna’s Ecuadorian roses are the quintessential bouquet.
Bella Filipina – P5,000
Peonies seem to be one of the more underrated flowers out there. They are as delicate-looking as (if not more than) a rose, and have a “spring is here” air to them. The Daleya bouquet from Bella Filipina combines these two blooms in one beautiful, feminine bouquet.
Fiora Manila – P9,500
A bouquet of flowers? Been there, done that. How about a box? Fiora’s 36 roses come in an elegant black box, which can be personalized with your mom’s name. Choose from one to six colors: salmon pink, coral, white, and tiger (a two-toned cream and red). The boxed flowers are currently on sale, so you can get them for P8,500.
Te Amo – P14,099
If you’re spending thousands of pesos on a bouquet of flowers, it’s understandable that you’d want them to last for as long as possible. In that case, you can opt for an equally elegant arrangement of preserved roses, like this one from Te Amo, aptly named ‘Eternal Affection’.
Te Amo – P35,000
When we said bouquets could cost as much as a trip to Japan, this is the bouquet we were talking about. So what is 35 grand worth in flowers? 100 Ecuadorian roses in pink and white, accented by eucalyptus and baby’s breath. The amount of awe and affection the recipient of this bouquet will feel? Priceless.
