ICYMI: Kumori’s cheese tarts are now available as gelato and we definitely need a pint

Japanese bakery Kumori was my personal comfort food haven back in college—and God only knows how much of a hoarder I was of its signature cheese tart. Best enjoyed when fresh out of the oven, its well-made crust is just the right amount of crispy and buttery, while its cheese filling has a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture that makes it easy to love.

So just imagine how ecstatic I was when I found out that Kumori has collaborated with artisanal gelato brand Manila Creamery to give this same exact pastry the ultimate gelato treatment—which will be available for a limited time only.

Called the Signature Cheese Tart Gelato flavor, this new frozen treat is the next unique dessert crafted in a team-up between very different food businesses during quarantine (with the latest being this Hapag X The Lost Bread X Auro crossover we didn’t know we needed.)

Putting a fresh spin on the bakery’s signature melt-in-your-mouth pastry, the Kumori and Manila Creamery collaboration introduces a rich white cheddar and cream cheese gelato mixed with tart shell bits. Altogether, these ingredients bring a balance of sweet and salty flavors with a velvet-like texture and buttery crunch.

Each pint is available for P435 and can be ordered via Kumori and Manila Creamery’s websites, GrabFood, LalaFood, FoodPanda and MetroMart. You can also buy it from Kumori and Manila Creamery branches nationwide.
