These ready-to-cook plant-based burger patties are available for P135 online

We’ve seen plant-based burgers dominate the restaurant and fast food scene in 2020 and now, the trend is making its way to our very own kitchen. Yes, you can now whip up a plant-based burger at home for lunch or snacking—all thanks to this meat-free patty you can easily add to your online cart.

Local company Swift Foods rolled out its plant-based brand UnMeat, and its current flagship product is a 226-gram pack of frozen meat-free burger patties. Instead of beef, it is made of soy protein mixed with water, vegetable oil, onion, natural flavors, wheat (gluten and fiber), iodized salt, vinegar and soy sauce. UnMeat’s burger patties also don’t contain eggs, which make them even better for those who choose to eat vegan food. Each serving also contains 17 grams of protein.

The process of cooking this burger patty isn’t different from regular store-bought frozen patties either. Just thaw the product, preheat the grill or pan to medium-high or high heat, and cook for approximately three minutes per side.

UnMeat’s burger patties are also easy to find; no need to go to specific stores or groceries to score a pack. It is available online through Lazada and Shopee for P135 per pack.

Those who have tried Shakey’s plant-based Goood Burger might recognize the taste of UnMeat’s product, and that’s because it’s the same burger patty used in the restaurant’s recent menu offering.

“We are working towards more plant-based options, making meat alternatives accessible to a wider segment of the Filipino population. The key is to create a product that is affordable, healthy yet tasty—with the flavor profile of real meat,” said Christopher Po, chairman of Century Pacific Food Inc. which owns Swift Foods.
