3 private spaces outside Manila to check out if you need a sanity break

We’re halfway through the year, and just a few hundred days short of another pivotal national event (yes, this is your reminder to register to vote), and frankly, it seems like there’s just too much happening yet again. If you’re overwhelmed and in need of a break from it all, there are a few escape options.

Albeit temporary, these private spaces and resorts are surrounded by nature, making it a quick and easy way to destress and replenish your quarantine-drained energy.

Casa Tropica Villas

Laguna

Located in Pansol, Casa Tropica features natural hot spring pool villas with water coming from Mt. Makiling. Their private villas can house up to 25 (following COVID-19 guidelines on 50% capacity), but can be booked for groups of even 10 people or fewer. Although the villas are fully furnished, the resort requires guests to bring their own utensils, plates, etc. for health safety purposes.

Batalang Bato Beach Retreat

Batangas

If you need a moment of peace and quiet and just want to commune with nature, there’s Batalang Bato in Batangas. Located in a marine sanctuary, the property has a 1-bedroom cottage and a 2-bedroom villa. Aside from being located at a beachfront, the property also has an abundance of trees in the area, as well as a reef ideal for snorkeling.

Casa Bulaqueña

@casabulaquena
San Rafael, Bulacan

For day trips, there’s Casa Bulaqueña, which offers al fresco private dining. The menu highlights Bulacan heritage cuisine and is served family style, making it ideal for groups. Being located in a farm, Casa Bulaqueña’s quaint dining setup is surrounded by lush greenery (plantitos, plantitas, rejoice!)

They will be opening a bed and breakfast soon.
