Sweet Ecstasy, one of the Philippines’ newest burger joints, has a not-so-secret off-the-menu addition: the Western bacon cheeseburger.
The restaurant, which now has five branches and was third in Big 7 Travel’s list of 50 best burgers in Asia in 2019, started as a hole-in-the-wall on Jupiter Street, Makati back in 2012 before quickly becoming known for its burgers and milkshakes.
The cheeseburgers are easily the crowd favorite on their menu, but little did we know that they were keeping one of the more indulgent ones to themselves. In this Facebook post a few weeks ago, the burger joint hinted at this towering burger with the caption: “If we say anymore, then it wouldn’t be a secret” along with the hashtag #Westernbaconcheeesburger that we’re guessing are the magic words for this massive burger to appear on our tables.
Zooming in on the burger (which looks very hard to contain with everything that’s going on), reveals Sweet Ecstacy’s signature brioche buns, juicy well-done beef patty and of course a good amount of melted cheese; but this time, the lettuce and tomatoes, which can be found in their regular cheeseburger variations, have been traded for crispy bacon strips. After a really close look and a quick Google search about Western bacon cheeseburgers, we’ve come to the conclusion the cheeseburger excitingly also has some onion ring strips.
And to pull the whole Western flavor together, the taste of honey barbecue sauce is also something to look out for. So, the next time you happen to be in one of Sweet Ecstacy’s branches, try your luck at ordering this thrilling secret menu option.
