Ready your mugs—or cones, if you will—taho ice cream exists

Where I grew up, taho is strictly a morning treat. The magtataho bellows, the kids and adults rush out with coins clinking. Where I went to college, taho is a whole-day treat. The man with tin cans does the rounds at the academic oval throughout the day.

Somehow, I’ve associated the warm soy curds with syrup and tapioca pearls with breakfast. Or it may be that taho just sells out early in the morning. 

But is cold taho really that bad?

It turns out, it isn’t. In fact, it’s also good frozen, as in ice cream.


The Sexy Chef, a diet plan delivery service owned by singer-actress Rachel Alejandro, sells taho ice cream by the pint. And in case you didn’t know, taho is vegan and so is its ice cream version.

I never imagined being able to enjoy taho at home and anytime,  much less as ice cream, and yet here we are. Manong magtataho will always have a place in my heart, sure, but so will this ice cream.
