Why buy clothes when we have nowhere to go and no special occasion to wear them to?
One, wearing “outside” clothes inside the house can boost productivity and psyche yourself into thinking we are in normal times. And two, because a little purchase helps uplift our local creative community through this challenging time.
Futurist, Today x Future in Cubao’s sister concept in Poblacion, Makati, while itself trying to slowly recoup, is also helping out local creatives like artists, chefs, designers and businesses get back on their feet. On top of opening its spaces for artists to showcase their craft (the latest is an exhibition by photographer Mac Villaluna), Futurist is hosting a gamut of events on-ground and online.
The newest in its lineup is a series called Futur: Capsule a regular pop-up that will feature local clothing brands through a dedicated space in its Poblacion location and on its website.
For the first installment, Futurist is partnering with vintage store Glorious Dias and sustainable label ec. Last year, the former closed down its Palma address; its selection of period garments and curios personally handpicked and made by its proprietor Jodinand Aguillon is currently housed at the First United Building in Escolta as part of another pop-up. ec, on the other hand, with its airy genderless silhouettes, has purely operated online with its made-to-order business model.
From Feb. 25-27, pieces from Glorious Dias and ec will be available at Futurist in Poblacion and on its website.
