If, like many of us, you too have been swept up in the K-beauty craze in some way, you might want to check your makeup stash.
The Food and Drug Authority (FDA) recently published a list of Korean beauty products that have been recalled not just here, but abroad as well, for containing dangerous levels of antimony.
South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety revealed that the 13 products exceeded the permissible level of antimony (10 parts per million or ppm), as they ranged from 10.1 ppm to 14.3 ppm. It is said that exposure to high levels of antimony can cause eye, skin, and lung irritation, and continued exposure can pose more adverse effects.
Yikes. If you’ve been looking for a reason to purge your beauty kit, now might be the best time. Do you have any products on the list?
