Feeling anxious when you look at your phone? Here’s a trick

Being connected 24/7 is exhausting albeit undeniably convenient. There are times notification alert tones make us anxious; the instantaneous nature of messaging now can also feel overwhelming. It’s tiring physically, too, as perpetual phone use might be giving us “text necks.” And so the need to disconnect, at least for a while, follows.

Fortunately, there’s a quick little trick that might ease the tension: color-coding your phone’s home screen.

Much like a color-coded library, a phone screen with apps arranged according to colors can be therapeutic and a delight on the eyes.

There’s no study about this yet, but the sight of an organized phone screen can give us the illusion that we’re doing great with our busy lives. The process of arranging the apps based on pure aesthetics and personal indulgence can be a treat and be relaxing, too.

To execute this, you might want to ditch the folders. But if you’re not ready to commit to this way of digital life yet, take your time.
