These are what your fave home cooks and bakers want for Christmas

Quarantine has unlocked the inner home cook and baker in many people. Some took up these kitchen duties as a new hobby or a way to relieve stress, while others used their latent talent to start their own home businesses. Whatever their purpose, the home cooks and bakers in your life would surely appreciate unwrapping these gifts for Christmas.

Kitchenware

Cooking burnouts are apparently a thing, but as someone who also spends a good amount of time in the kitchen, let me tell you that eye catching kitchenware can help you get over it. When cooking or baking seems too much of a chore, looking at cute and decorative yet still very utilitarian wares can somehow spark joy.

Take this adorable cooking pot from ByGrace.mnl for example. You can use it as a casserole, cooking pan or simply as a container—and yes, it’s totally safe for stove use. It’s available in three sizes: one liter single handle with lid (P1,450), 1.6 liter double handle with lid (P1,580) and 2.5 liter double handle with lid (P1,950).

For your favorite home cook/baker whose delectable dishes always have a huge demand (The food they make just tastes so good), a large cooking pot under the Christmas tree might be heaven sent. This kitchenware from Harper and Harlow has so much space that they can be used to make meals in bigger portions. And it’s multi-layered, too.

Listen, cutting boards are very underappreciated kitchenware. These babies are used for almost every meal prep and are probably littered with stab and cut marks (not to mention stains from meat juice and veggies)  for those who cook a lot. For Christmas, home cooks and bakers might appreciate this sturdy wooden board from @justaddtocartsis as a replacement for their already-worn down cutting boards.

And speaking of cutting boards, why not pair one with an aesthetically pleasing set of knives? This pastel-colored and high quality stainless steel knife set from Cozzina Home Furnishing Store only cost P650, and has four kinds of knives (chef knife, bread knife, small cleaver and paring knife), scissors and a ceramic peeler.

Appliances

If you’ve got a bigger budget to spare, gifting kitchen appliances to the people who bring good food to your table would be a good idea. After all, there are so many cooking gadgets available in the market now that would make meal preparation easier and faster for them.

Bakers will appreciate this stand mixer from Smeg Philippines which makes mixing bread dough, cookie dough, cake batter and frosting more convenient. It comes with a glass bowl and four different attachments for all your mixing and stirring needs.

Here’s a random tech gift idea: How about surprising your favorite home cook/baker with a portable Bluetooth speaker that can surround them with good music while they whip up exciting dishes and match their kitchen’s aesthetics, too? We found these minimalist speakers from Vanilla Breeze Home that won’t look out of place when surrounded by ovens, toasters and cooking pots.

Tableware

Taste is important when it comes to food, but so is presentation. Make the scrumptious dishes whipped up by your resident cook/baker even more of a feast for the eyes with beautiful tableware.

Ceramic tableware is hugely popular on the scene right now, and we’ve even listed places where you can “mine” plates, cups and bowls for your table decor needs. We recommend District 84, an Instagram shop that sells imported Amaï ceramics from Vietnam. Each piece is handmade and very unique—no two pieces are the same.

In case ceramic isn’t your favorite home cook/baker’s type, we also know where you can get good glassware.

You can also express how much you love the meals that they make by giving them this stainless steel utensil set from Koselig Home. Its matte finish with golden details gives a sophisticated feel that complements the stellar dishes that they serve.

Food containers

Help home cooks and bakers keep their kitchen and pantry neatly organized by gifting them containers for the ingredients they often use. Mesa Moderna has a handy set of glass seasoning bottle containers that has built-in serving spoons, basting, brush and honey dippers for P580.

This creative basket that you can purchase for P1,150 at Cupboard Concepts can also help keep up to 24 eggs cooped up nicely in one place. We’re also total suckers for its witty design—whoever thought of making an egg container with a chicken cover was a genius.

Home cooks and bakers will also thank you for these stylish storage jars from Balay Marikit which are good for storing spices, nuts, coffee, tea and even uncooked pasta.

If they’ve already got storage jars, the next best thing you can probably give them is this minimalist trolley from Cozy Chic. With the myriad ingredients that they’d need for their cooking and baking endeavors, this tray provides them extra space in case their cabinets and countertops become too crowded. It’s also portable and movable, so they don’t have to worry about it getting in the way of their kitchen duties.
