Vegan mochi now exists, thanks to Mochiko and Coco Mama

When we say “vegan”, the first thing that comes to mind is meat-free. Although they also include animal products, eggs, dairy and honey that are often forgotten in conversations about food that vegans avoid. In the land of snacks and desserts, this is very important—we’ve even searched for dairy-free gelato and frozen yogurt for this.

Just in time for Veganuary, dessert shop Mochiko teamed up with coconut ice cream brand Coco Mama to add a new entry to our vegan snack list. Introduced last Jan. 8, the coconut with mango mochi is Mochiko’s first vegan rendition of the bite-sized Japanese rice cake.

The sweet and chewy treat is made with delicious mango swirls and coconut ice cream which captures the essence of Coco Mama’s signature dessert from Boracay and La Union. Aside from being perfect for Veganuary, mochi might also be a good snack for you to munch on as it is often associated with good fortune.

Mochiko’s coconut with mango mochi is available for delivery in certain Metro Manila areas weekly, and order forms are released on the shop’s official Facebook page every Saturday at 10 a.m. Only orders made through the forms are accepted.

You can also pick up your order at Spicebird Stall 14, The Grid, Power Plant Mall after placing it at least one day in advance and paying online. However, pickups via delivery riders are not possible.
