The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) declared yesterday that in anticipation of the large number of passengers this Holy Week, especially on the non-working holidays, the number coding scheme for all vehicles is lifted.
The suspension starts on Apr. 17 (Holy Wednesday), the day when more passengers are expected to go to the provinces.
“Ina-anticipate natin kasi yung government offices will be suspending the work on Wednesday, half-day lang po sa Wednesday,” MMDA Edsa traffic head Bong Nebrija told dzBB Radyo.
He added that the influx of passengers will be observed until Apr. 22 (Monday) as passengers will be going back to Metro Manila. “Monday to Wednesday, expect na magkakaroon pa tayo ng volume,” Nebrija said.
Holy Week is usually the time of the year when the metro has clear rodes. Despite this, it’s important to be prepared. Plan your routes, travels, and schedules ahead in line with this MMDA advisory.
Have a safe Holy Week, everyone.
