The pandemic may have required us to focus our gift-giving powers to more urgent concerns, but as it continues, more and more non-profit organizations have felt the financial damages brought about by quarantine—not dodging the bullet are animal shelters. Last May, the Animal Kingdom Foundation reported that over 100 rescued dogs may lose their homes as donations dwindle amid COVID-19. To help keep rescued animals safe, save up and donate to these shelters.

PAWS is a volunteer-based organization that rescues and treats animals without shelters. They are also open for adoption and have initiated campaigns for animal rights in the country. You can donate to them either in cash or kind by visiting their website.
CARA Welfare Philippines

Another non-profit, volunteer-based organization, this shelter focuses on providing education on animal birth control and also serves as a sanctuary for rescued pitbulls in Manila. You may also adopt cats or dogs through this organization. Donate to their cause either by cash or kind by visiting their website.
Hound Haven

Hound Haven is the first and only institutionalized organization that caters to military working dogs and contract working dogs in the Philippines. Once these dogs retire, the organization takes them in and also places them up for adoption. Visit their website to find out how to donate.
Animal Kingdom Foundation

This organization rescues dogs from the streets, illegal trade and slaughter for consumption and gives them care and shelter. Due to the pandemic though, they are running out of essential goods to feed and take care of the dogs. You can help by either adopting a dog or donating to their organization.
Save the Laguna Pitbulls

Pitbulls have earned a bad (and inaccurate) reputation for being dangerous. This non-profit organization is proving all those naysayers wrong by showing the public how sweet and loving these dogs can actually be. Those interested in supporting their cause can either adopt, sponsor, volunteer or donate. Visit their website for more details.
