Earlier in May, everyone’s favorite childhood milk candy Haw Haw made its return as an ice cream flavor. Now, we welcome back yet another nostalgic sweet treat—this time, from the ’80s, and an ultimate favorite after-school snack of Philippine Science High School (Pisay) and Jose Abad Santos Memorial School (JASMS) students.
Known as The Beehive, this childhood favorite is a chocolate-covered treat with marshmallow filling and moist chocolate cake. It got its name exactly from what it is shaped like—a beehive.
Despite being a cult fave among students back then, The Beehive disappeared for a while. However, we’ve got good news for those who either miss or have always wanted to try this Pisay and JASMS favorite: It is now back through Merced Bakehouse & Restaurant.
You can have this chocolate-covered treat delivered to your home by filling out this online order form. Available at P40, Merced Bakehouse & Restaurant encourages store pickup for The Beehive because it might get squashed during delivery.
Located at 869 EDSA, Bgy. West Triangle, Diliman, Quezon City, Merced Bakehouse & Restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday. Currently, the bakehouse also does not offer same-day delivery, but walk-ins are welcome at their store.
You may also contact them via email at [email protected], Viber at 09672319787 or call at 8924-2108 or 8924-0191.
Aside from The Beehive, the bakehouse also offers a selection of baked goods and meals from the kitchen. Among their bread products are bitso-bitso (P12), yema cake (P50 for three pieces and P165 for 10 pieces), macapuno tart (P45) and kalabasa rolls (P80 for 12 pieces).
