Dance fever: These places let you disco the night away

  • Disco is officially back in style. If you want to dance ’til dawn to the hottest retro hits, these bars and restaurants have you covered

From Abba making their grand return to the stage (albeit, holographically) to the resurgence of roller skates, disco fever has made its rightful comeback. While I’ve personally been shaking and shimmying to Donna Summer since infancy, new bars and restaurants have made it so that we can boogie the night away on an actual night out.

But to what do we owe the pleasure of disco’s modern renaissance? Could it be the lowering of pandemic restrictions? Or maybe because the music provides a nostalgic comfort? Or maybe it’s just because people are finally realizing that there’s nothing better than singing and dancing along to “Night Fever” by the Bee Gees.

Only the disco gods know.

But if you want to turn your disco dreams into a reality, here are a bunch of places you should check out.

The Studio Dance Club

If you haven’t heard, The Studio Dance Club is apparently the hottest place to dance the night away these days. Aside from its famed “Disco Friday” and Saturday “Boogie Night,” they also have a full schedule of other dance-themed afternoons and evenings.

Their rates are P500 per person, consumable on Disco Friday and P750 per person on Boogie night.

Studio Dance Club is located at LPL Tower, 112 Legaspi St., Legaspi Village, Makati

Wildflour Greenbelt and BGC

Pre-pandemic, Wildflour’s Retro Nights were located in its Rockwell branch. These days, the party has moved on over to its new Greenbelt location on Fridays and BGC on Saturdays. The crowd here skews to the younger side, which just goes to show how universal disco actually is.

Entrance is free, but you’ll want to order a cocktail or a meal for all the dancing you’ll be doing.

Wildflour Greenbelt is located at Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Esperanza St., Makati

Wildflour BGC is located at Ground Floor Six/NEO 4th Ave. corner 26th St., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

Sixty Four

Southie disco fiends, hauling yourselves up to the heart of Manila is now a thing of the past. Sixty Four is a retro-style bistro that hosts weekly retro night parties on Friday. The playlist spans the hits of the ’80s all the way up to the early ’00s. Sixty Four also serves New Orleans-inspired dishes like Louisiana fried chicken if you ever get hungry on the dance floor.

Entrance is free, but make sure to put on your dancing shoes to really enjoy the night.

Sixty Four is located at Evia Lifestyle Center, Daang Hari, Almanza Dos, Las Piñas
