Ayala group allocates P2.4 billion towards an emergency response package

In light of the enhanced community quarantine, the Ayala group announced that they will be allocating P2.4 billion for a COVID-19 emergency response package for their partner employers’ extended workforce.

The emergency response package includes wages, bonuses, leave conversions and loan deferments for retail workers, construction workers, service providers, security agencies and employees who operate on a no-work-no-pay type of employment.

P600 million will go towards salary continuance for displaced workers in construction sites and shuttered malls under the Makati Development Corporation and the Ayala Malls Group. Globe Telecoms has reserved P270 million for its retail support staff, while Ayala companies have reserved P130 million for personnel-related financial support.

Employees under the Ayala Corporation will be provided with salary continuance and their mid-year bonuses in advance. Special financial assistance programs will also be made available to employees at subsidized rates.

Moreover, Ayala Malls will be allocating P1.4 billion towards rent condonation for merchants who are operating in malls that are closed during the community quarantine period. Through these measures, Ayala ensures that their employees and partners affected are taken care of.

“In these most trying times, those significantly affected by the COVID-19 situation are the thousands of workers that will be affected by the enhanced community quarantine because their places of work have been closed,” CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala explained in a statement.
