For the uber keen theater fans, you might have seen hints of a new musical in the works in the past few months. Good news is that the secret is finally out: today, the creators of “Still” announced the full lineup of their cast and creative team.
The minds behind the hit Filipino musical “Mula Sa Buwan”—namely director-creator Pat Valera and singer-songwriter Matthew Chang—are joined by actor Nicco Manalo, directors Giancarlo Abrahan (“Sila Sila”) and Treb Monteras (“Respeto”), and screenwriter Monster Jimenez (“Apocalypse Child”; “Respeto”) as the shows creators and producers. Along with Chang, musicians Nica Del Rosario (who was responsible for Sarah Geronimo’s hit song “Tala”) and Mike Shimamoto are also working on the show’s music.
“Still” is described as “an inspirational lockdown story that unlocks the beauty of friendship, the resilience of community, and the strength of the Filipino spirit.”
The musical will be a narrative series under Asian streaming platform Viu. It stars big names in theater like Bituin Escalante (“Himala: Isang Musikal”, “Waitress”), Gab Pangilinan (“Ang Huling El Bimbo,” “Mula Sa Buwan,” “Rak of Aegis”), as well as well-known performers Julie Ann San Jose and Christian Bautista. The cast also includes rising stars in theater such as Lance Reblando, Abe Autea, Gabby Padilla, and Shimamoto.
UPDATE as of July 10: Still will be an 8-episode series with early exclusive streaming on Ticket2Me.net starting September 10. Check out how to score early access to the episodes on their Instagram:
