Does breaking out in the same place over and over annoy the crap out of you? It’s like no amount of acne spot treatment or face mask can make that godforsaken zit disappear. Normally, our skin is affected by many factors: the environment, genetics, chemicals (from cosmetics and skincare products), the food we eat, and more. But if your breakout occurs in the same place and pops up frequently, chances are the cause is something much deeper.
A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon an ancient Ayurvedic technique called face mapping. According to this practice, face mapping can help you identify the causes of your breakouts as it links certain facial areas to different internal organs.
Forehead
Pimples in this area are often associated with the digestive system. It means that you might be having trouble digesting certain foods or you’re not eating the right ones. Other causes include sleep deprivation, stress, and liver issues.
The solution: Try to hit the sack as early as you can to make up for your body. It also helps if you lay off junk food and refined sugar from your diet and resort to more fruits and vegetables instead.
Cheeks
The cheeks are a common target for zits to show up and multiply. Being exposed to polluted air, pressing your phone against your skin during phone calls, and allergies that affect the respiratory system are all contributing factors. Having too much sugar in your diet can cause pimples in the cheek area, too. You can try to cut back on the white stuff and see if that helps.
The solution: Whether you live in a polluted city or not, it pays to practice proper hygiene. It’s also important to disinfect your gadgets with rubbing alcohol before using them to prevent bacteria from transferring to your face. Change your sheets at least every two weeks, and lastly try to eat less sugar.
Chin
If you notice chin pimples showing up during that time of the month, then it’s likely to be caused by your hormones. Hormonal acne is caused by an excess of the male hormone androgen. These hormones can trigger oil glands thus clogging the pores and allowing bacteria to grow.
The solution: Hormonal acne can be treated with either a topical or oral medicine. Dermatologists recommend prescription-strength products so be sure to check with your doctor first. However, if you suffer from hormonal imbalance, you should get your hormones checked first before going straight to acne treatments.
Between the brows
Aside from drinking too much alcohol, greasy and fatty foods are also to blame for those pimples. Other possible causes are lactose intolerance, late night snacking, and food allergies.
The solution: Cut alcohol completely (if you can!). Strive for seven to nine hours of sleep each night and stick to a more balanced diet.
