In line with an effort to boost the countries’ tourism and economic relations, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) negotiated an Air Services Agreement (ASA) with the Kingdom of Morocco.
But as an initial step to the agreement, the two countries first signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will grant Filipinos full traffic rights for both passengers and cargo shipments.
This is the seventh ASA established by the Philippines in the African region along with countries like Rwanda and Ethiopia.
According to DOTr, ASA is an agreement that paves the way for both countries’ respective carrier to have daily flights to and from each other. Not does it increase the countries’ tourism figures but it also boosts their economic and social relations.
Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Igor Bailen also said that this is a step for the Philippines to establish an embassy in Morocco next year.
