Heads up, folks: Meralco just announced that they’ll be offering a 30 day extension for all electricity bills due Mar. 1 to Apr. 14. The extension will start from your due date. Aside from that, the electric company will also be postponing their maintenance activities so that no one would lose their electricity.
This is in light of the Metro Manila-wide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since people are expected to stay at home and practice social distancing during this time, going out (even if it is to pay your bills) is highly discouraged.
Meralco isn’t the only utility company that will be offering extensions during the lockdown. PLDT, for one, is offering a “30-day extension for all postpaid customers of PLDT Home, PLDT Enterprise and Smart and Sun Postpaid.” They’ll also be providing speed boosts to Fibr subscribers in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, making the minimum internet speed for those users 25 mbps. Meanwhile, rival telecommunications company Globe is also offering a 30-day extension.
This news should hopefully give everyone some peace of mind during this terrifying period.
