It seems no bank is safe from ATM trouble. Just last week, BPI encountered a system glitch that resulted in misrecorded transactions, and earlier today BDO account holders have reported alleged ATM fraud.
BDO president Nestor Tan has tried to dispel depositors’ concerns by announcing that this incident is “Nothing out of the ordinary.”

It seems the government is having none of this whole business with bank glitches and frauds though. Senate President Koko Pimentel has ordered a senate investigation be conducted on the state of the banking system following the ATM troubles experienced by two of our biggest banks.
While we wait for the outcome of the investigation, let’s do our part in making sure our accounts stay as secure as possible. We’ve compiled some easy steps here. Hopefully we won’t hear of more bad bank news next week.
