Plastic dinnerware doesn’t have that stellar reputation. It’s a low-maintenance dining solution, true. But this ease is often at the cost of aesthetic (unless you’re going for a kiddy party theme), and for the busy home entertainer, that certainly won’t do.
For those planning the last of summer lunches, or those still hanging on to the last days of sun and light, crystal tableware lends not only an air of elegance for the table setting, but it also highlights the dishes being served.

Italian contemporary furniture brand Kartell collaborated with award-winning architect and designer Patricia Urquiola to create the Jellies Family collection, which features crystal-like dinnerware in pastel hues like sea blue, pink, and 2017’s color of the year, green.
These pieces can be used as a monochromatic set, adding uniformity and order to the table setting, or can be mixed with different colors for a subtly more festive feel. The Jellies Family line has plates, trays, glasses, bowls, and carafes, each featuring different nature-inspired patterns, some reminiscent of honeycombs, scales, and even flowers.
Besides being cast in dainty dessert colors, the Jellies Family line is also made of acrylic glass or PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate). This crystal-like plastic, formed into Urquiola’s sophisticated designs, makes each dinnerware piece easy to integrate into any table setting, whether it’s a formal dinner or a casual, garden brunch. The fact that it’s shatter-resistant is just a bonus.
