No need to trek to Sagada to buy red rice —you can order it through this Facebook page

This year has devastatingly rattled our food and agriculture industry to say the least. At this point, probably no one wants to be a farmer because they are constantly being hard-pressed by the circumstances of climate change, calamities and even by our government. Right now, the only people that could come to their aid are the citizens and consumers.

A Facebook page called Sagada Lokal serves as a ready-made medium for the kind of bayanihan our farmers in Sagada needs. The page advocates and helps local farmers in Sagada Mountain province—a relatively remote place from the mainstream market—to efficiently mobilize their produce through the use of modern technology and the online market .

How it works is that they will buy your choice of produce or vegetables fresh from the Saturday Farmers Market at its original market price (yes, no profit).

Although not stated in the list, they also offer organically grown sagada oranges and of course from red rice from the sagada terraces.

From there, they will only charge for the shipping fee of P100 per box and the minimum fee of P250 for their services including purchasing and packing your orders. Their delivery day is every Saturday as well.

With this, supporting our very own farmers is not only necessary for their stability but also to secure our resources’ security and freedom. When we continuously patronize local produce, we will barely see the need to spend and import resources from other countries and the authorities might even invest more in this sector.

If you’d like to order or know more, you can send them a message through Sagada Lokal’s Facebook page
