“My juicing days at home may have started because of an unfortunate health crisis in the family weeks just before the pandemic,” photographer and interior designer Kitty Buñag shares.

Nonetheless, she took this new-found lifestyle change and even created a brand out of it called Ruby Kiss, through which she sells juices, smoothies, chia puddings and savory vegan dishes like sesame soba noodles on demand. “In 2001, my mom fought breast cancer. Ruby Kiss is my tribute to her and to anyone who is fighting his or her own battle every day—physical, mental, emotional.”

Not only are their concoctions made by Kitty herself using the freshest ingredients (without preservatives and processed sugars, at that!), their eco-friendly packaging is also her pledge to reduce waste by opting for reusable jars and bottles as containers.

But perhaps, the best way to reduce your carbon footprint while still ensuring that what you eat is good for your body is to make it yourself at home. Kitty, who’s turned her home into her laboratory/cloud kitchen, acknowledges this and even shares her recipe for one of Ruby Kiss’ first offerings, the berry immunity smoothie bowl.

Apart from the smoothie base itself, the recipe is super customizable. Kitty’s original recipe uses almond milk to make it vegan but you can always opt for another nut milk or even whole milk, depending on your food restrictions.

From there, it’s pretty much a matter of picking your choice of toppings to add texture, flavor and even more nutrients to your smoothie.
