ICYMI: Workers from the government, private, and informal sectors belonging to the A4 priority group can get vaccinated against COVID-19 starting today.

The rollout will be done in two phases, prioritizing those from NCR+8 (National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Batangas, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao).

  • A4.2 – employees in government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or controlled corporations and local government units
  • A4.3 – informal sector workers and self-employed who work outside their homes and those working in private households

Phase 2: A4 workers outside NCR+8

Estimates from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) show that there are about 35.5 million beneficiaries under the A4 priority group. Of this number, 13 million are in NCR Plus 8.

A ceremony for the “symbolic rollout” of COVID-19 vaccines for essential workers under the A4 priority group is being held today, June 7 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay. Some 50 individuals from the tourism, transportation, mass media, food service, and business process outsourcing (BPO) industries and sectors will be inoculated on site.

Vaccinating essential workers, according to the government, will boost economic activity.

A4 vaccination in LGUs

Various Metro Manila cities have also announced the start of COVID-19 vaccinations for the A4 cluster, which will happen simultaneously with that of A1 to A3 priority groups.

Parañaque, Mandaluyong, and Navotas will start inoculating A4 workers today. Meanwhile, Valenzuela City will kickstart its A4 vaccination on June 9, Wednesday.

The City of Manila last week announced that essential workers in the A4 category will be allowed to walk in. However, Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso said the city is still waiting for the official date to start the vaccination.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, on the other hand, issued an executive order last week to expand the LGU’s vaccination program to the A4 priority group. San Juan also plans to incentivize its citizens to get the jab by offering discounts from local businesses.
