It has never felt this good to help. With the onslaught of recent typhoons and the subsequent rise of civil society donation drives and fundraisers, everyone has more avenues to channel aid, and even more reasons to do so (not that we need any).

Artists and creatives like designer Carl Jan Cruz have stepped up to heed the call to raise funds for typhoon-stricken kababayans in Albay, Marikina and Tuguegarao, as well as foundations Bantay Bata and Home for the Golden Gays.

Partnering with the non-government initiative Hayag, Cruz set aside what could have been his brand’s December stock worth P500,000 for a good cause. Starting Dec. 1, Carl Jan Cruz will be raffling off 25 one-of-a-kind pieces made in his atelier, with one lucky winner taking home a special garment every day until Dec. 23.

“We’ve developed and produced CJC ‘bestsellers’ and classics exclusively for the end of 2020 to celebrate small wins and sharing our thanks for your unending support and enthusiasm for the brand. In reflection of the recent events that’s happened to our home, Philippines, we’re not selling them anymore. We’ve decided that the best way to move forward is to gift and raffle all of these for a cause,” the designer said.

Included in these 25 pieces are three garments that are part of the CJC Classics, which will be custom-made for the winners.

Tickets priced at P350 each will entitle you to one raffle entry. Even international donors can join and have a chance to win creations such as CJC’s iconic deconstructed denim Jan Shell Jacket, a few accessories, as well as home decor like the nine-piece Parihava set (P12,500) that can be used as placemats.

The prizes are drawn at random, too. For example, for the first day of the raffle, the winner took home a Garutay halter top in green, which retails for P12,000. Today’s winner will receive 10 sets of vilogs patterned after the round trapo, which comes in a special bag.

To register, visit carljancrewz.com/donate until Dec. 22. Payments can be made through GCash, bank transfer and PayPal. Winners are announced daily on CJC’s Instagram page.
